Job Summary

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the Water sector, you’ll lead multi-disciplinary design and delivery across UK water frameworks, from feasibility to construction support. You’ll manage budgets and schedules, mentor engineers, engage with clients, and develop MEICA solutions for water and wastewater systems across AMP8/AMP9 programs, collaborating with teams across UK offices and partner centres.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Develop feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs, and provide construction support for water sector projects.
•Create design drawings, select mechanical plant, and prepare technical specifications.
•Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, process, and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
•Ensure high technical quality, contribute to bids, and maintain client relationships.
•Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to meet targets.

Key Requirements

•A degree in Mechanical Engineering with Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) through a recognised institution like IMechE.
•Proven expertise in producing, reviewing, and approving engineering reports, designs, drawings, and specifications.
•Leadership potential with experience in managing direct reports and mentoring engineers.
•Exceptional client and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in team leadership and line management.
•Experience in the water and/or wastewater industry.
