Key Responsibilities

•Research and develop high-index optical glass compositions optimized for AR applications, achieving superior optical properties with minimal defects.
•Design thickness and flatness control strategies (TTV, wedge, transmitted wavefront) and develop metrology and SPC systems to ensure substrate quality.
•Scale lab-scale processes to 300 mm wafer platforms and high-volume manufacturing, defining robust process windows.
•Collaborate with optics, photonics, and hardware teams to integrate substrates into AR waveguide designs and co-optimize materials, design, and process for efficiency and color uniformity.
•Contribute to patents and internal best-practice documentation, and define next-generation substrate roadmaps based on industry trends.

Travel: Low travel

Salary: USD 176,000 - 242,000

Key Requirements

•MS or PhD in Materials Science, Glass Science, Applied Physics, or a related field.
•Proven expertise in glass melting and forming technologies.
•Hands-on experience developing high-index optical glass and processing optical-grade substrates.
•Familiarity with NIL vs. etched grating processes and AR waveguide integration.
•Strong refractive index engineering and optical performance understanding, including thickness/flatness/transmitted wavefront metrology.
