Rising 3L law student will support the in-house legal team onsite in San Francisco, handling commercial contracts, AI governance, privacy compliance, intellectual property, and product counseling. You will collaborate with Operations, Product, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Research on regulatory frameworks, data privacy, and open-source/IP matters while gaining hands-on experience in frontier AI law.

Key Responsibilities

•Commercial Contracts: Conduct first-pass reviews and triage business legal requests, including customer agreements, NDAs, BAAs, and DPAs with concise summaries and recommended next steps.
•AI Governance and Regulation: Research and analyze emerging AI regulations (EU AI Act and US frameworks) to help draft internal governance policies.
•Privacy and Data Compliance: Help ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, BIPA, and CUBI.
•Intellectual Property Strategy: Assist with IP workflow including copyright issues in AI training, open-source compliance, and filings for trademarks/patents.
•Product Counseling: Translate legal analysis into practical recommendations for cross-functional teams across Operations, Product, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Research.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 50 - 65 hourly

Key Requirements

•Currently enrolled as a rising 3L at an ABA-accredited law school; graduating in 2027.
•Experience producing legal writing (memos, contract summaries, issue briefs) that turns complex questions into concise, actionable recommendations.
•Ability to take a defined research or legal operations project from intake to usable work product with clear assumptions and escalation.
•Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Claude for Legal), Google Workspace, Slack, legal research platforms, document trackers, spreadsheets, and knowledge-management systems.
•Ability to work onsite in San Francisco for 15 hours per week during Fall 2026.
