Job Summary

Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders across all ages in a hospital/long-term care setting. Develop individualized treatment plans, deliver evidence-based therapy for communication and dysphagia, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, educate families and staff, and ensure documentation and regulatory compliance while staying current with advances in speech-language pathology practices.

Key Responsibilities

•Assess and diagnose communication, speech, language, and swallowing disorders across all age groups; conduct bedside and instrumental swallowing assessments.
•Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and medical conditions; deliver evidence-based therapy for communication difficulties (e.g., aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia, stuttering, voice disorders) and manage dysphagia.
•Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, therapists, dietitians, psychologists) to ensure comprehensive care; participate in case conferences, family meetings, and care planning.
•Educate and counsel patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, home programs, and communication strategies; support training of nursing staff and caregivers in managing communication and swallowing issues.
•Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes; ensure compliance with Bahrain health regulations, ethical standards, and hospital policies.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology / Speech Therapy from a recognized university.
•Valid NHRA license (or eligibility) to practice in Bahrain.
•Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist, preferably in hospital or long-term care settings; experience with adult neurological conditions (stroke, TBI, Parkinson’s, dementia) highly desirable.
•Strong diagnostic and clinical reasoning abilities; commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
•Excellent communication, empathy, and patience; ability to educate and support patients, caregivers, and staff effectively.
