Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop structural concepts and architectures for UAV and aircraft platforms, balancing load paths, lightweight design, manufacturability, and integration.
  • •Develop and maintain vehicle-level GFEMs to support sizing, stiffness evaluation, load distribution, and vehicle development.
  • •Perform structural analysis (hand calculations, classical methods, and FEA) for strength, stiffness, stability, buckling, joint behavior, and failure modes.
  • •Translate GFEM loads into component-level design loads and detailed analyses, including metallic, composite, and hybrid structures and bonded assemblies.
  • •Plan and support structural testing and correlation by updating analytical models using test data, measured stiffness, mass properties, and flight-test results.

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years designing and analyzing aircraft, spacecraft, UAV, missile, or similarly lightweight structures.
  • •Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • •Develop and use finite element models to influence structural design, including vehicle-level GFEMs.
  • •Proficiency with an industry-standard FEA solver (e.g., MSC Nastran, NX Nastran, Simcenter Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus).
  • •Experience analyzing metallic and/or composite aerospace structures, including joints and bonded/mechanically fastened assemblies.
