Job Summary

Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and verification of motor drive systems for aerospace actuation applications. Own motor drive product architecture and key design decisions across electronics, software, firmware, and test engineering, coordinating integration with mechanical and systems teams. Lead requirements, risk/change control, subsystem design reviews, validation and verification planning, and evidence-based performance validation using simulation, root-cause analysis, and design-of-experiments. Based onsite in Wolverhampton with <20% international travel.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and verification of motor drive systems, including power/control electronics, converter topologies, and motor control algorithms.
•Own technical architecture and key design decisions for motor drive products across the development lifecycle.
•Lead and coordinate technical activities across electronics, software, firmware, and test engineering for motor drive activities.
•Collaborate with mechanical and systems leads to integrate the motor drive controller subsystem into the overall actuation architecture.
•Lead validation, verification, and testing plan implementation, including subsystem-level design reviews, risk/change control, and evidence-based performance validation.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering or a related discipline.
•Significant experience designing, developing and verifying motor drive systems and power electronic converters.
•Strong expertise in power electronics design, including inverter topologies, gate drive circuits, and switch-mode power supplies.
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving and systems-thinking capabilities.
•Strong communication skills to engage with engineering teams, customers, program leadership, and certification bodies.
