Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide end-to-end legal counsel for retail cryptocurrency products and services while collaborating across teams.
  • •Respond to sophisticated legal requests and coordinate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to deliver timely, high-quality advice.
  • •Identify and assess legal and regulatory risks and propose creative mitigation approaches aligned with product goals.
  • •Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and advise on Canadian crypto regulatory developments.
  • •Engage with Canadian securities regulators and self-regulatory organizations on compliance and innovation matters.

Key Requirements

  • •J.D. degree from a law school accredited by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.
  • •Membership in at least 1 Canadian province or territory bar, with good standing.
  • •7+ years of relevant work experience at a law firm, government agency and/or technology, financial services, brokerage or fintech company.
  • •Experience with legal and regulatory requirements applicable to crypto, securities, derivatives, money transmission, and/or sanctions.
  • •Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including communicating effectively with non-legal audiences and driving cross-functional alignment.
