Job Summary

Lead UK Mining project delivery through WSP’s Global Capability Centre (GCC), providing strategic direction, technical oversight, and people leadership. Drive operational excellence by managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring health & safety, compliance, quality assurance, and effective document/report deliverables. Oversee project and financial management, mentor and develop staff capabilities, strengthen internal/external stakeholder relationships, and support bids and marketing contributions aligned to wider UK business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

•Act as Project Director/Lead for UK Mining projects, aligned with the wider UK business and GCC culture.
•Lead people and processes to ensure mining-related technical deliverables meet internal/client requirements and quality assurance standards.
•Manage health & safety, welfare, risk, information security, and assessment/compliance across projects and governance.
•Oversee project, programme, design, contracts, and financial management; set roles and performance expectations.
•Mentor and develop team capabilities via appraisals, performance reviews, training identification, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

•15–25 years of experience managing or directing complex cross-regional, multidisciplinary projects (preferably GBP 5 million+).
•Professionally qualified and a member of a relevant internationally recognized institution (e.g., Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent).
•Demonstrated working knowledge of UK design standards applied to complex Mining or multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
•Track record in design management and project/program/design/contract and financial management in multidisciplinary projects.
•Experience managing mining projects across feasibility studies, mine infrastructure, tailings, water, geotechnical, environmental interfaces, mineral processing/materials handling, safety, and regulatory compliance (preferably).
