Job Summary

Build and operate platform capabilities for Affirm’s Lake Analytics platform, enabling teams to securely build, deploy, and run data applications at scale. Own observability, incident response, and automation that reduces toil, while contributing to roadmap work like semantic layer infrastructure and agentic, AI-native data tooling.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and implement core platform capabilities for automated provisioning, deploy pipelines, access control, service lifecycle management, and reliability tooling.
•Build and maintain integrations between the platform and internal systems, including CI/CD, identity and secrets management, external APIs, and event-driven hooks.
•Operate secure data access and governance patterns across the analytical infrastructure using RBAC, managed-access schemas, dynamic data masking, secure views, and cross-database grants.
•Automate recurring support patterns (access provisioning, data pipeline failures, service health management, secrets management) to enable self-service and eliminate manual admin work.
•Improve observability and incident response by building telemetry, alerting, log infrastructure, runbooks, and participating in on-call coverage and production incident triage.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 173,000 - 255,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Hands-on experience operating a cloud analytical data platform (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery), including access control design, data masking/governance, compute management, and cost optimization.
•Experience building and operating containerized applications, including Docker image management, CI/CD pipeline design (Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or similar), and deployment automation.
•Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, or self-service infrastructure that improves other engineers’ productivity.
•Comfort building system integrations and networking: REST APIs, OAuth/OIDC, webhook ingestion, secrets management, and identity/SSO patterns in a managed cloud environment.
•Proficiency in Python and SQL for reliable, maintainable backend platform services.
