Key Responsibilities

  • •Relay signals for train movement using hand signals, lanterns, flags, and hand-held radios.
  • •Mount railroad cars, set brakes, and place blocks or chocks; operate handbrakes before detaching cars.
  • •Couple or uncouple cars using standard couplings and perform line switches to move cars onto different tracks.
  • •Perform emergency repairs to brake equipment and assist with preventive and organizational maintenance on locomotives and railcars.
  • •Ensure safety rules are observed (GCOR and ABTH) and instruct/inspect personnel on rail movement instructions (SDDC TEA MI 55-19).

Salary: USD 30.84 hourly

Key Requirements

  • •High school graduate or equivalent.
  • •Complete online Container Inspection for Commercial and Military Intermodal Containers (MIL HDBK 138A).
  • •Obtain a forklift license for all equipment (4K to 50K).
  • •Pass pre-employment drug test and background screening, and receive a favorable TIER-1 investigation result to obtain and maintain a CAC.
  • •Have a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued driver’s license.
