Key Responsibilities

  • •Control material taken into the paver and the depths of material distributed through the machine.
  • •Operate the screed on an asphalt paving machine to support asphalt paving work.
  • •Ensure understanding and application of paving industry requirements such as grades, drainage, paving patterns, and job specifications.
  • •Perform minor servicing and maintenance to keep equipment in efficient working condition, and refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • •Support safe execution of job duties involving sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, and lifting requirements (up to 25 pounds frequently; up to 30 pounds occasionally).

Key Requirements

  • •Prior experience operating the screed on an asphalt paving machine is preferred.
  • •Strong understanding of asphalt paving, including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistency, and compaction details.
  • •Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • •Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • •Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
