Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and implement backend services powering the Box Automate workflow engine using clean, maintainable Java focused on correctness, performance, and scalability.
  • •Build and optimize algorithms for workflow graph representation, traversal, and execution to support reliable processing of millions of workflow instances daily.
  • •Develop and extend the Automate meta-language for creating complex, variable-driven workflows beyond standard CRUD operations.
  • •Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, infrastructure) to define requirements, propose technical solutions, and deliver features on schedule.
  • •Participate in code reviews and mentoring, and help with on-call rotation to respond to and triage production issues.

Key Requirements

  • •3+ years of professional software development experience with demonstrated backend development expertise.
  • •Proficiency in Java and strong object-oriented design knowledge, including data structures and algorithm design.
  • •Strong computer science foundations (ideally math or computer science), with comfort working on graph algorithms and optimization problems.
  • •Experience building scalable backend systems, including database design, caching strategies, and asynchronous processing.
  • •Fluency in English (written and verbal).
