Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and implement components of a high-performance DNS engine, including resolvers, forwarders, caching layers, and request-processing pipelines.
  • •Harden DNS protocol features across transports: UDP/TCP, DNS-over-HTTPS, DNS-over-TLS, DNSSEC, and EDNS Client Subnet standards.
  • •Build and improve traffic management and reliability features such as global server load balancing, health-checking, policy evaluation, response rewriting, and threat/security filtering.
  • •Profile and optimize hot paths (memory allocation, data structures like tries/caches, and connection pooling/multiplexing) using benchmarks.
  • •Integrate the data plane with control-plane services for configuration updates across distributed nodes, and own observability (metrics, structured logging/tracing, diagnostics) plus unit/integration/component testing.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong systems programming experience in Rust, including async programming with tokio.
  • •Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/UDP, TLS, HTTP, and ideally DNS or another wire protocol.
  • •Experience writing performance-sensitive concurrent code and using benchmarks and profiling to guide improvements.
