Key Responsibilities

  • •Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor, managed in Autodesk Vault, and produce mechanical design documentation.
  • •Design mechanical parts, brackets, enclosures, and assemblies with manufacturing/assembly forethought (DfM/DfA) and appropriate GD&T.
  • •Specify, procure, and prepare prototypes; assist with testing and validation, producing design requirements, specifications, assembly instructions, and test reports.
  • •Keep deployed quantum computer modules running via inspection, assembly, installation, and preventive maintenance; diagnose issues, propose tradeoff-aware corrections, and implement fixes.
  • •Serve as the local technical interface between engineering and Japanese suppliers/contract manufacturers to align specifications, ensure documentation readiness, handle incoming part acceptance, and drive corrective actions.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • •Approximately 5 years of professional mechanical design experience with meaningful hands-on build, installation, or field-service exposure.
  • •Proficiency in 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and experience with PDM software (Autodesk Vault preferred).
  • •Strong mechanical design knowledge across machining, sheet metal, and mechanical assembly, including GD&T and DfM/DfA.
  • •Practical electrical skills (soldering, wiring, basic troubleshooting with a multimeter) plus business-level Japanese and English for supplier work and daily US collaboration.
