Key Responsibilities

  • •Use ATMS and other software to monitor state roads and Intelligent Transportation Systems devices, including surveillance cameras, dynamic message signs, and ramp meters.
  • •Monitor camera video and information sources to detect and verify events affecting traffic flow and safety (e.g., crashes, debris, abandoned/stalled vehicles, maintenance, construction).
  • •Log potential and confirmed events and monitor response plans to mitigate traffic impacts, updating response plans as needed.
  • •Dispatch Road Ranger Safety Service Patrol Operators and communicate with motorists, first responders, FDOT staff, and partner agencies using radio/phone protocols.
  • •Provide directions and traveler information updates (including fl511.com), perform written documentation, and follow program Standard Operating Procedures/Guidelines.
