Key Responsibilities

  • •Adhere to safety, health, and housekeeping standards; participate in SLAMs/HPHs, risk assessments, and close-out of safety actions.
  • •Assist extraction craft workers (e.g., earth drillers and operators) to ensure blasting operations comply with procedures and required timeframes while preventing injury and asset damage.
  • •Inspect blasting areas and signal workers to clear the area so operations occur safely within prescribed processes and standards.
  • •Perform repairs and maintenance of automotive and drilling equipment; observe and monitor equipment operations and initiate actions to prevent damage.
  • •Arrange and prepare blasting materials; unload materials and parts into sound holes using hand tools and drive/manoeuvre mechanised equipment to excavation sites.

Key Requirements

  • •Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • •SA Drivers Licence Code B.
  • •Knowledge of safety standards and understanding blasting procedures.
  • •Understanding of relevant safety requirements, including safe declarations from Miners/Blasters (Competency A preferred).
  • •Possess the necessary proficiency to be trained to operate auxiliary equipment and understand equipment maintenance practices.
