Key Responsibilities

  • •Accountable for Qantas Engineering Operations while working closely with the Manager IOC Operations.
  • •Serve as the primary escalation point, decisionmaker, and operational focal for Engineering.
  • •Lead and manage an on-shift team to ensure ongoing airworthiness of the Qantas fleet.
  • •Optimize aircraft availability, on-time performance, and AOG recovery during 24/7 operations.
  • •Act as the key operational interface between Engineering, IOC, and Flight Operations, influencing operational and commercial decisions.

Key Requirements

  • •Extensive leadership and management experience in an operational environment.
  • •Strong decision-making ability to prioritize and mediate between conflicting demands/customers.
  • •Commitment to effective industrial relations, staff development, and coaching.
  • •Sound understanding of civil aviation regulations and other regulations governing industrial workforce management (OH&S, industrial relations, EEO).
  • •Engineering/aircraft training (tertiary training in Engineering/Business Management or aircraft trained to LAME level) and experience in line maintenance or airline engineering planning/commercial roles.
