Lead the BLE firmware stack for Eight Sleep’s Pod ecosystem, owning the wireless connectivity from architecture to production. You’ll optimize for always-on devices, ensure cross-platform interoperability, and drive secure OTA firmware updates, while collaborating with hardware teams and manufacturing partners to ship high-quality, validated devices at scale.

Key Responsibilities

•Own the BLE stack across our Pod ecosystem. Architect, implement, and maintain the Bluetooth connectivity layer; define GATT services and connection strategies for reliable, secure, power-efficient communication.
•Optimize for Always-On Devices by tuning radio-on time, advertising intervals, connection parameters, and PHY selection while maintaining low-latency biometric data sync.
•Ensure Bulletproof Interoperability across a wide range of iOS/Android devices, OS versions, and RF environments using sniffers, protocol analyzers, and telemetry to root-cause cross-stack issues.
•Ship and Sustain OTA at Scale by designing and hardening the secure OTA DFU pipeline for global device fleets.
•Bring Up New Silicon by collaborating with hardware teams on antenna tuning, regulatory certification, and silicon-vendor stack integration.

Travel: Medium travel

Salary: USD 140,000 - 180,000 annually

Key Requirements

•5+ years of embedded software engineering experience, with at least 3 years shipping production BLE firmware.
•Deep knowledge of the Bluetooth stack end-to-end (GAP, GATT, SMP, L2CAP) and BLE security.
•Hands-on experience with vendor BLE stacks and SDKs (e.g., Nordic SoftDevice / nRF Connect SDK / Zephyr).
•Proficiency in C/C++ for microcontrollers and Python or Node.js for host-side tooling; experience with UART, I2C, SPI, DMA, and low-power design.
•Willingness to travel regularly to China for supplier and CM support.
