Job Summary

Provide site safety support at the Copper Mountain Mine and lead the emergency response and emergency preparedness program. Coordinate emergency preparedness planning and evaluation, support the High Potential Risk Control Strategy, and maintain compliance and preventative maintenance for emergency equipment. Identify risks, develop mitigation action plans, lead mine rescue teams during emergencies, and conduct training (e.g., Lockout, Confined Space, Mine Rescue, Fall Protection). Maintain records, reports, and effective cross-department communications.

Key Responsibilities

•Coordinate the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of site emergency response and emergency preparedness programs.
•Support the development and implementation of the High Potential Risk Control Strategy and maintain compliance for emergency response equipment, including preventative maintenance.
•Identify site-specific risks, analyze them, and develop action plans with best practices and procedures to mitigate risk and meet minimum standards.
•Lead and coordinate mine rescue teams during emergency response operations and plan and conduct emergency response team training sessions.
•Maintain accurate safety and emergency management records, prepare daily/weekly/monthly/annual reports, conduct safety audits and orientations, and facilitate training on programs such as Lockout, Confined Space, Mine Rescue, Fall Protection, and Active Mine Entry.

Key Requirements

•Minimum 3 years of work experience in safety, including at least 1 year leading an emergency management program (or an equivalent combination of education and work experience).
•Post-secondary education in health and safety and/or emergency management is considered an asset.
•OFA Level 3 certification.
•Active B.C. or Yukon Mine Rescue Certification and Mine Rescue Instructor (or an equivalent combination of education and work experience).
•Solid understanding of applicable Health & Safety regulations and exceptional oral and written communication skills.
