Job Summary

Oversee all shipping department activities by leading personnel to ensure SOPs/GMPs and federal/state compliance (e.g., USDA, OSHA) while meeting shipping schedules, productivity, and budget goals. Manage day-to-day transportation and storage, safe loading/unloading, and continuous process improvements to reduce deficiencies and risk. Coach and train employees, administer performance actions, promote safety and zero-accident culture, and coordinate with other departments/shifts.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage the shipping department by establishing procedures, adjusting to meet shipping schedules, improving efficiencies, and meeting/exceeding budget objectives.
•Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure safe and efficient transportation, storage, and loading/unloading while reducing contamination and damage risk.
•Identify and communicate opportunities for process optimization and reduce or eliminate repeat deficiencies such as hold product, accidents, or downtime.
•Mentor, coach, and train/cross-train employees; provide consistent feedback and administer performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions.
•Follow and promote safety initiatives (including PPE requirements), maintain organized docks/storage facilities, and coordinate with other departments/shifts to meet goals.

Key Requirements

•Minimum four (4) years relevant experience in a supply chain or shipping environment, with perishable foods experience preferred.
•Proven leadership experience, including timekeeping knowledge, policy adherence, conflict resolution, and prior supervisory experience preferred.
•Strong customer focus and exceptional verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate across the chain of command and with external customers.
•Proficient computer and math skills, plus strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
•High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree with relevant coursework from an accredited institution preferred.
