Job Summary

Own the pattern engineering standards that take On footwear from 2D design to reliable 3D fit and mass-production readiness. Develop and document pattern best practices, align upper patterns with lasts, refine prototypes, and partner with designers, upper engineers, and manufacturing teams. Drive continuous improvement, incorporate new construction methods and software capabilities, and optimize pattern nesting and material yield to reduce waste while mentoring and elevating the creation team.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop, establish, and implement comprehensive pattern standards for inline footwear, including best practices, construction methods, and quality benchmarks.
•Collaborate with the Last Engineering team to ensure upper patterns and footwear lasts complement each other for mass production without compromising comfort or aesthetics.
•Lead prototype refinement from digital design to physical samples, addressing fit, construction, or performance concerns and feeding learnings into standard practices.
•Partner with inline product designers, upper engineers, and manufacturing teams to guide adherence to standards and ensure production feasibility.
•Create documentation and run training to educate internal teams, and lead continuous improvement and sustainability-focused optimizations (pattern nesting, material yield, cutting efficiency).

Travel: Medium travel

Key Requirements

•8+ years of proven, hands-on experience in footwear pattern engineering with experience integrating pattern standards into product development.
•Advanced skills in 2D and 3D pattern-making software/CAD tools (e.g., Romans CAD, Dimension, Jevero, MindCAD).
•Deep understanding of footwear upper materials, textiles, and modern construction techniques for performance and lifestyle footwear.
•Strong analytical ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex fit, comfort, and manufacturability challenges within standardized patterns.
•Proven cross-functional collaboration with Tier 1 development facilities and overseas manufacturing partners, including willingness to travel internationally to oversee sampling and troubleshoot on the factory floor.
