Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide high-quality commercial and corporate legal advice to key stakeholders in Canada, the United States and overseas.
  • •Draft and negotiate third-party contracts including sponsorship/partnership agreements, IP agreements (licensing/brand-related arrangements), and review leases/real estate contracts.
  • •Advise on corporate structuring matters to maintain and develop the corporate structure, considering regulatory and tax implications.
  • •Take day-to-day responsibility for legal matters in Canada and the USA, and support the global legal team.
  • •Support financial services regulatory, corporate governance, and entity management for North American entities, including managing external counsel and assisting disputes as required.

Key Requirements

  • •Law degree in Canada or the United States.
  • •At least 5 years of qualified experience in private practice or in-house.
  • •Commercially focused corporate/commercial legal experience, able to handle a wide variety of matters across the business.
  • •Interest in the fintech sector and financial products; experience with regulated companies/institutions is desirable.
  • •Fluency in French or Spanish is desirable, and experience working in the United States is desirable.
