Key Responsibilities

  • •Run a caseload of defender pre-litigated and litigated healthcare and large loss matters for insurers and corporate risk clients.
  • •Prepare advice for insurers and corporate clients while meeting court deadlines and client SLA requirements.
  • •Conduct forensic review and analysis of claim documents to assess liability, quantum, and causation.
  • •Draft court documents, correspondence, and witness statements; liaise with clients, other insurers, policyholders, witnesses, and experts.
  • •Instruct experts and counsel, negotiate settlements, and undertake court appearance work; assist partners and team members as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •5–10 years PQE litigation experience in large loss and/or clinical negligence claims.
  • •Experience litigating in the All-Scotland Personal Injury Court and Court of Session, including court appearances in the Sheriff court and as instructing agent in the Court of Session.
  • •Experience dealing with either clinical negligence and/or large loss claims.
  • •Strong communication, forensic, and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
  • •Ability to work as part of a team and independently; time recording experience is preferable.
