Job Summary

Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring for international students in the Year One Foundation Program at the University of Alberta. Key Responsibilities

•Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions for international university students in engineering-related subjects such as mathematics, physics, statics, dynamics, and introductory programming.
•Help students develop analytical thinking and structured problem-solving approaches by breaking down complex problems step by step.
•Support students in applying theoretical knowledge to practical and real-world engineering contexts.
•Collaborate with the Kaplan Student Success team to monitor student progress and provide feedback on academic development.
•Clarify course material and provide guidance for assignments, homework, quizzes, and exam preparation using clear and accessible explanations.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: 25 hourly

Key Requirements

•Currently enrolled in or has completed a degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Engineering Science).
•Strong proficiency in university-level engineering subjects including mathematics, physics, chemistry, and introductory programming.
•Ability to connect formulas and calculations to underlying principles and break down complex concepts step by step using examples or diagrams.
•Prior tutoring, teaching, or laboratory instruction experience, particularly with international students, is an asset.
•Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and in a culturally sensitive manner.
