Key Responsibilities

  • •Underwrite profitable new and renewal accounts to meet regional targets for Marine Cargo LoB.
  • •Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers; proactively manage capacity.
  • •Underwrite Natural Catastrophe accumulation; understand catastrophe modelling and interpretation for relevant LoBs; underwrite multinational programs.
  • •Ensure underwriting approach and compliance with LoB governance, authorities, guidelines, and principles; achieve contract certainty at inception.
  • •Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients; coordinate with Distribution Management and other stakeholders in the underwriting process.

Key Requirements

  • •Proven track record in underwriting profitable business in the Marine Cargo LoB, with understanding of LoB products and portfolio.
  • •Demonstrable relationships with brokers at peer group level and ability to negotiate participation, pricing and terms with brokers.
  • •Understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios for relevant LoBs; ability to underwrite multinational programs.
  • •Progress towards professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII) and a degree in Economics, Law, or related discipline.
  • •Strong communication, relationship management and analytical skills; ability to operate in a complex, global matrix organization.
