Job Summary

Senior Marine Cargo underwriter responsible for profitability of new and renewal business, ownership of large accounts, pricing and terms negotiations, and leadership within the team, while developing broker/client relationships in a regional Marine Cargo portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

•Underwrite profitable new and renewal accounts to meet regional targets for Marine Cargo LoB.
•Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers; proactively manage capacity.
•Underwrite Natural Catastrophe accumulation; understand catastrophe modelling and interpretation for relevant LoBs; underwrite multinational programs.
•Ensure underwriting approach and compliance with LoB governance, authorities, guidelines, and principles; achieve contract certainty at inception.
•Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients; coordinate with Distribution Management and other stakeholders in the underwriting process.

Key Requirements

•Proven track record in underwriting profitable business in the Marine Cargo LoB, with understanding of LoB products and portfolio.
•Demonstrable relationships with brokers at peer group level and ability to negotiate participation, pricing and terms with brokers.
•Understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios for relevant LoBs; ability to underwrite multinational programs.
•Progress towards professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII) and a degree in Economics, Law, or related discipline.
•Strong communication, relationship management and analytical skills; ability to operate in a complex, global matrix organization.
