Key Responsibilities

  • •Advise the Head of WHO Office to maintain safety and security of WHO personnel, premises, and assets in line with UNSMS and WHO security policies; monitor MOSS compliance.
  • •Monitor security across the country, coordinate security risk analysis, provide independent analysis of emerging threats, and support implementation of recommended mitigating measures.
  • •Develop contingency plans and SOPs for the country office and sub-offices, support implementation of enhanced security measures, and ensure staff familiarity with guidelines.
  • •Design systems to track WHO staff/responders and coordinate daily updates from field coordinators; coordinate provision of mobile phones/SIM cards and radios for rapid alerting.
  • •Conduct security awareness and training for WHO staff and non-staff, maintain security information and periodical situation reports, participate in the UN Security Cell, and supervise Local Security assistant(s).

Key Requirements

  • •University degree in police science, business administration, political/social science, psychology, international relations, or related field with focus on security management (or equivalent military/police academy degree/training).
  • •At least seven years of experience with proven international exposure in security management, including training and guiding staff on security issues.
  • •Experience in UN/WHO/health cluster field mission security operations and familiarity with UN Field Security Officer/Adviser functions.
  • •Knowledge of UN security policies, procedures, and operations; experience conducting safety and security training and certifying basic security in the field.
  • •Demonstrated technical skills across areas such as communications/electronics/mechanics/explosives, plus tact, discretion, and diplomacy; expert English.
