Job Summary

Lead and manage archaeology projects in the South East, specialising in fieldwork, planning, and bespoke heritage strategies for developments and infrastructure. Oversees subcontractors, tender design, and desk-based assessments while ensuring Health & Safety compliance, deadlines, and budget; collaborates with clients and stakeholders to grow the heritage services offering from Cambridge or Bristol offices.

Key Responsibilities

•Monitor and supervise the work of WSP-approved fieldwork subcontractors on-site and in the technical review of deliverables, including RAMS.
•Prepare competitive tenders and design the scope and methodology for archaeological fieldwork in line with Health and Safety protocols.
•Produce or contribute to archaeological desk-based assessments.
•Undertake stakeholder, curator and client liaison; manage fieldwork projects from planning to delivery.
•Lead fieldwork projects from planning and consent applications and deliver bespoke archaeological strategies for developments and infrastructure, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Key Requirements

•Experience of archaeological fieldwork project management (project, financial and staff management).
•Robust knowledge of Ireland archaeology and history and full knowledge of the planning process and relevant environmental/heritage legislation and guidance.
•Experience in heritage and planning, masterplanning, heritage conservation, heritage led-regeneration, recreation and tourism, heritage sustainability masterplanning, placemaking, multi-disciplinary collaboration and business development.
•Excellent writing skills, and are a good communicator and team player.
•A highly motivated, conscientious and efficient approach to work, and are able to meet deadlines and budget within a busy consultancy environment.
