Job Summary

Design, implement, test, and sign off network engineering changes for the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) High Frequency communications environment. You’ll analyze requirements, create and maintain engineering documentation, and maintain/administer existing network systems. Working within the JORN ICT group, you’ll operate with delegated authority, collaborate with stakeholders, and support upgrades across Australian and international defense customer programs, with occasional travel to remote sites.

Key Responsibilities

•Analyze requirements and design network engineering changes within a defined scope of work, including reviews, implementation, testing, and signoff.
•Create and update engineering documentation such as designs, drawings, manuals, and associated artefacts.
•Maintain and administer existing network systems within the JORN ICT group and support development of new projects and capabilities.
•Work independently on engineering activities within competence, with liaison to customers and stakeholders as appropriate.
•Foster engineering best practices and contribute to continuous improvement, while working within technical, cost, and schedule constraints.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•A background in ICT or Systems Engineering with a good understanding of engineering practices and methods.
•Proven experience working in an ICT environment, ideally within the defence industry.
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience plus vendor certifications).
•Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise networking environments including LAN, WAN, and DataCentre.
•Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Cisco ASA & FMC Firewalls, Cisco LAN/WAN, and Cisco ISE (plus network automation such as Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD is an advantage).
