Key Responsibilities

  • •Use software and applications to monitor and control Intelligent Transportation Systems devices (e.g., CCTV, DMS, HAR) located along freeways.
  • •Detect, verify, and log events impacting traffic flow and safety, including motorist assists, crashes, debris, abandoned/stalled vehicles, and maintenance/construction activity.
  • •Dispatch Safety Service patrollers for roadside services related to traffic crashes and roadway hazard events using two-way radio systems.
  • •Perform communications tasks and coordinate with VDOT personnel, Virginia State Police, authorities, wrecker companies, and other stakeholders; answer and route phone calls.
  • •Communicate consistently with program training and high customer service expectations during assigned shifts.
