Job Summary

Lead design input on multi-disciplinary construction projects from early concepts through delivery. Manage external design consultants and coordinate engineers and stakeholders to produce buildable, compliant, innovative, and efficient solutions. Evaluate designs, manage consultant performance, and liaise with clients, project teams, contractors, and consultants on issues, scope changes, and risks across sectors including transportation, defence, real estate, and highways.

Key Responsibilities

•Work with the Project Manager to manage the agreed contract with external design consultants and take action when needed.
•Manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams from consultants and partner companies to deliver solutions to the required design level.
•Evaluate designs and solutions for quality and fit for purpose.
•Collaborate with technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders and design coordinators.
•Liaise with clients, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Contractors, and Consultants on project issues, scope changes, and risks.

Key Requirements

•Minimum 5 years of design and management experience.
•Around 5 years managing design through the full project lifecycle across sectors and procurement routes.
•Strong understanding of integrated design delivery and managing consultant performance.
•Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.
•Degree/HNC qualified (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline such as Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical.
