Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform field reconnaissance and geological mapping to identify hazards such as landslides, subsidence, liquefaction, and unstable slopes.
  • •Conduct geological and geotechnical site investigations and develop geological models, cross-sections, and maps to support transportation design and construction.
  • •Analyze geotechnical conditions, prepare detailed technical risk assessments and geologic reports, and document in-situ testing and logs.
  • •Oversee fieldwork logistics and supervise drilling, test pits, groundwater instrumentation, probe hole drilling, and permeability testing; monitor geotechnical instrumentation.
  • •Collaborate with civil/structural engineers, planners, and NJDOT (or similar agencies) to integrate findings into designs and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering (geotechnical focus), or related field plus six years of related experience.
  • •Valid US Driver’s License.
  • •Preferred: Master’s degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Soil/Rock Mechanics, or Hydrogeology.
  • •8+ years of geotechnical experience with demonstrated experience in underground structures (tunnels, shafts, caverns, reinforcement, grouting, ground improvement, etc.).
  • •Preferred: Valid New York State Professional Engineering or Professional Geologist license.
