Key Responsibilities

•Build and guide newsgathering operations: The primary goal of this position is to inform and ensure we’re making the right calls on assignments in security-sensitive locations, with guidance from security experts and collaboration with senior editors.
•Leadership Briefings: Provide daily situation and staffing updates for newsroom editors and leadership, and analyze security incidents to improve systems.
•Establishing Conflict Bureaus: Deploy quickly to create or scale wartime bureaus, secure local infrastructure, and ensure on-the-ground presence supports safety and journalism.
•Business continuity: Lead disaster recovery, evacuation planning and crisis management in partnership with the business continuity team.
•Operational Security: Work with security operations to ensure teams have gear and training and that protocols enable journalists to stay safe.
