Key Responsibilities

  • •Support and complete concept and detailed design work packages for primary systems and substation-related projects within an established team.
  • •Complete design and engineering tasks including single line drawings, substation layouts, and MV/HV cable designs.
  • •Coordinate with AECOM technical leaders and submit work packages for technical verification using AECOM technical standards and processes.
  • •Liaise with team leaders, project managers, clients, and project team members to deliver designs within time, budget, and scope.
  • •Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Requirements

  • •3+ years’ experience exposed to primary and substation design concepts, preferably within the NZ transmission & distribution market.
  • •Understanding of electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, isolators, and reactive plant across low, medium, or high voltage projects.
  • •Experience with substation layout design, insulation coordination, and earthing systems using relevant NZ standards (AS/NZS) and industry best practices.
  • •Ability to work across multiple projects with strong time management and organisation.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems, or related discipline (ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status).
