Lead engineering for Wise’s Account Management team, responsible for the Current Account and Jars experience that sits at the heart of how customers hold and move their money day to day. •Lead the team’s engineers—own what they ship, support their well-being, and help them grow.
•Stay hands-on by writing code, reviewing designs and PRs, and driving whole features across backend, web, and mobile.
•Own the team’s technical roadmap, deciding how systems evolve while keeping reliability and tech-debt risk in check.
•Partner with Product Manager and Design, providing sharp feedback on what to build and why.
•Collaborate across adjacent teams building account sharing and money movement-related capabilities.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 105,000 - 135,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Strong backend engineering background, close to the code to guide senior engineers through hard problems.
•Deep understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and microservices, with comfort making high-impact architectural decisions.
•Track record owning reliability, scalability, and correctness of critical systems at scale.
•Experience leading a team of engineers and owning what they deliver.
•Comfortable in a JVM codebase (Java/Kotlin) and with Spring Boot.
