Job Summary

Lead mechanical architecture and detailed design for lightweight electric vehicles and micromobility infrastructure as part of the China Hardware team. Own CAD and prototyping, translate global requirements into ERDs, and guide JDM/ODM partners through technical audits of CAD, drawings, FEA simulations, and DFMEAs. Drive in-house validation, testing, and root-cause investigations while bridging US design teams with China operations and managing PLM documentation.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Own mechanical architecture and detailed design of critical vehicle subsystems, executing in-house high-complexity design and managing co-development scopes with JDM partners.
•Create 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using GD&T best practices and build/validate prototypes in the local lab with fabrication tools.
•Translate global requirements into ERDs, and drive partner collaboration while auditing partner CAD, drawings, FEA simulations, and DFMEAs.
•Develop and execute rigorous in-house test plans; audit partner test setups and data to ensure reliability and safety metrics are met.
•Lead deep-dive root-cause investigations for mechanical, manufacturing, or reliability failures and serve as a technical bridge across US and China teams.

Key Requirements

•BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) or equivalent experience.
•12+ years of mechanical design and engineering experience with a portfolio from concept to mass production.
•Proven ability to work in a hybrid model: deep independent in-house design plus managing and auditing external JDM/ODM partners.
•High proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred), tolerance analysis, and designing parts for high-volume manufacturing.
•Exceptional written and spoken English and Mandarin for global communication and technical status/risk presentations.
