Job Summary

Lead traffic engineering projects by performing investigations and inspections of roadways, intersections, signage, signals, and transportation corridors. Develop and design intersection and corridor improvement concepts, including signing/pavement marking and traffic signal/electrical plans. Conduct crash analysis, signal timing and safety studies, oversee traffic data collection and modeling, and produce technical reports, presentations, and QA/QC documentation while coordinating with authorities, sub-consultants, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform traffic engineering work, including investigations and inspections to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits.
•Develop and design intersection and corridor improvement concepts and capital improvement studies in coordination with authorities and clients.
•Prepare signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic signal and electrical design plans.
•Perform crash analysis, signal timing analysis, and safety studies; oversee traffic data collection and trip generation/traffic analysis.
•Prepare technical reports and presentations, maintain QA/QC standards, and provide guidance/training to entry-level engineers.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
•5+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior traffic design experience.
•EIT certification.
•Knowledge and experience with NYSDOT and regional agencies including NYCDOT, NYSDOT, and PANYNJ.
•Proficiency in traffic engineering principles and design, including traffic control equipment, capacity/operational analysis, and project management.
