Key Responsibilities

  • •Structure, negotiate, and draft agreements for commissioning, developing, and producing local content with local partners.
  • •License content from producers, studios, networks, and distributors.
  • •Advise business partners on legal issues arising from content creation, streaming, and marketing.
  • •Rapidly respond to production clearance issues and queries from production houses and the creative team.
  • •Develop and implement production clearance strategies and advise marketing on IP-related issues in promotional content.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of experience drafting licensing, rights acquisition, and production agreements in English and Japanese.
  • •Regional production and operational background with a deep understanding of the Japanese entertainment industry and international television distribution (including digital distribution).
  • •A law degree (JD, LL.M) and experience as a practicing attorney (in-house or registered attorney) with bar qualification and common-law jurisdiction (preferred).
  • •Experience providing in-house support (plus).
  • •Japanese intellectual property law experience (plus).
