Key Responsibilities

  • •Support protection and control protection testing and commissioning tasks for high-voltage substations.
  • •Perform on-site hands-on relay testing using relay test sets (e.g., Omicron CMC 256/356, Doble F6150) and test protective relay functions and schemes.
  • •Document site activities using field forms and digital/mobile tools, maintaining accurate logs, photo documentation, and label entries.
  • •Provide day-to-day support to field teams, resolve on-site challenges, and escalate complex technical issues to site/project leadership.
  • •Participate in safety briefings, ensure compliance with health/safety protocols, and mentor less experienced technicians; may assist with subcontractor monitoring and clerical project tasks.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or equivalent.
  • •Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including medium and high voltage equipment and substation protection/control testing.
  • •Expertise on transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes (including SEL, Basler, Beckwith, and GE families).
  • •Hands-on capability with relay calibration/test sets/measuring devices such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, including static & dynamic testing of microprocessor-based relays.
  • •Experience with electrical field testing standards and practices (NETA, IEEE, NFPA) and tools for testing and data review (e.g., ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset).
