Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop risk tolerance limits, risk appetite metrics, and escalation thresholds for major risk stripes in line with regulatory requirements.
  • •Identify emerging risks and ensure execution against relevant policies, frameworks, and control mechanisms for enterprise risks (ILE).
  • •Monitor and report the aggregate risk profile and initiate actions to ensure adherence to risk appetite and escalation to Governance Committees.
  • •Provide oversight of the internal control framework and risk governance, including effective challenge of critical processes, projects, and new product approvals.
  • •Maintain and continuously enhance the Legal Entity Risk Management Framework and lead functional oversight of risk management activities across American Express Italy S.A.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of leadership experience in risk management, compliance, treasury, controllership, or a similar role.
  • •Strong analytical skills and business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective, balancing commercial objectives with sound risk management.
  • •Strong understanding of local market regulatory requirements and the payment institution industry, including interacting with regulators and familiarity with the European regulatory landscape.
  • •Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure; fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • •Advanced degree in business, economics, engineering, or a related quantitative field preferred; FRM/CFA certifications valued.
