Key Responsibilities

  • •Strengthen national capacities to generate health data and statistics by supporting routine health facility data collection, surveillance, and surveys.
  • •Lead analysis of existing health data and statistics to identify trends and patterns, and build attribution and prediction models at facility, sub-national, national, and cross-country levels.
  • •Consolidate emerging information into publications and status updates such as scorecards, statistics atlas, and periodic health reports.
  • •Support sector monitoring and evaluation processes in the Health Regions, including contributing to evidence for decision makers through policy briefs and documentation of best practices.
  • •Coordinate health research in the country and support innovative approaches such as the health observatory and harmonizing digital health.

Key Requirements

  • •A degree in a health-related field with training in biostatistics, demography and/or epidemiology, plus a postgraduate degree/qualification in public health.
  • •At least five years’ practical experience generating and using strategic health information, including health data/statistics and sector-wide monitoring and evaluation.
  • •Proven ability to produce strategic health information outputs such as country statistical abstracts, sector review reports, and health policy briefs.
  • •Experience applying modern ICT methodologies to health information systems, including use of health observatories and scorecards.
  • •Expert knowledge of Portuguese or French, with excellent communication and presentation skills to write clear documents and provide technical guidance.
