Job Summary

Set the operating model for UK Technology’s technology operations and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), bringing together service management, production support, operational resilience, and risk governance. Lead standard frameworks for incident/problem/change and service ownership, define SRE governance, and drive reliability outcomes using SLIs/SLOs, observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) and runbooks. Improve recovery speed and resilience through automation, AI, and disaster recovery activities, strengthening customer and colleague experience across UK tech services.

Key Responsibilities

•Integrate UK Tech Operations and SRE into a consistent operating model across value streams and services.
•Protect customer and colleague experience by strengthening recovery, resilience, stability, and reliability across services and digital journeys.
•Establish standardised service management and production support frameworks, including incident, problem, change, and IT service ownership practices.
•Own SRE governance by defining principles, accountability, responsibility, and decision rights across UK Tech services.
•Embed observability-led operations and improve incident prevention and recovery using better alerting, runbook automation, and reduced MTTR.
•Govern operational resilience activities, strengthening risk and control outcomes with transparent metrics and auditable UK Tech reporting.
•Deliver automation, AI, and tooling improvements to reduce toil and increase ITSO capacity.

Key Requirements

•Bring deep expertise across IT service management, production support, SRE, DevSecOps, and incident/problem/change disciplines.
•Demonstrate experience shaping service resilience and reliability outcomes, including MTTR reduction and improved service stability.
•Apply SRE practices including SLIs, SLOs, reliability targets, actionable alerting, and runbook design.
•Use observability tooling and practices such as monitoring, logging, tracing, dashboards, and visibility of customer journeys.
•Show engineering experience embedding build-time resilience, testing, and automated deployment (e.g., standard pipelines and canary deployment).
