Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and lead the site Environmental Management System governance, including policies, procedures, standards, KPIs, documentation control, and reporting aligned to EIA, permits, legislation, corporate standards, IFC Performance Standards, and the Equator Principles.
  • •Coordinate with Social, Hydrogeology, Legal, and Permitting teams; translate permit requirements into field controls; support permit amendments, renewals, inspections, audits, and engagement with agencies.
  • •Conduct risk assessments and establish operational controls across air and dust, surface and groundwater, waste and hazardous materials, noise and vibration, biodiversity and habitat, soil disturbance and rehabilitation, erosion and sediments, tailings, and waste rock.
  • •Maintain EIA and permit commitment registers; verify implementation and effectiveness through inspections, monitoring, and audits; track commitments through closure.
  • •Lead environmental management during construction: define contractor requirements, conduct contractor due diligence, review plans, coordinate induction/training, perform inspections/audits, and ensure controls are in place before work starts.

Key Requirements

  • •University degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, or a related discipline.
  • •Valued postgraduate qualifications in environmental management or sustainability.
  • •10 years of experience in environmental management within mining or large-scale infrastructure.
  • •Experience developing and implementing Environmental Management Systems and managing EIA commitments and environmental permit compliance.
  • •Solid understanding of environmental monitoring programs and compliance systems, including experience managing contractors and environmental consultants.
