Key Responsibilities

  • •Own mechanical design and validation of the next module or chassis for data center switches, addressing structure, cooling, EMC, safety, manufacturability, cost, appearance, tolerances, documentation, and schedule constraints.
  • •Explore and propose design solutions that meet blended requirements and implement selected designs using Creo 3D CAD, producing drawings, critical dimensions, and 3D files for prototyping and manufacturing.
  • •Schedule and manage peer and cross-functional design reviews and maintain BOMs, release, and change management using product lifecycle management tools.
  • •Provide 3D models for thermal simulations; design heat sinks, perform/manage airflow and thermal testing, and debug prototype issues in the lab.
  • •Support ECAD/PCB integration by providing PCB design drawings and 3D files, coordinating with electrical engineers and contract manufacturers (CMs) on placement concerns and DFM issues; track outside-lab testing to capture necessary changes.

Key Requirements

  • •BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
  • •Relevant mechanical design experience for computer/network equipment intended to operate in data centers.
  • •Experience designing sheet metal parts and plastic parts for cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses.
  • •Familiarity with Creo (PTC Creo), with Creo 3D CAD and product drawings/3D files; Windchill is a plus.
  • •Strong verbal and written communication skills; thermal simulation, airflow testing, and liquid cooling experience are preferred.
