Job Summary

Lead end-to-end delivery and technical direction for Orum’s Product Platform systems powering real-time calling workflows. Architect and evolve backend services and modern React UIs spanning SIP/event-driven paths, WebSocket experiences, and streaming audio processing. Own complex product areas from discovery through iteration, author design docs, raise standards for reliability and performance, mentor engineers, and improve APIs, data contracts, testing, and DevEx while partnering closely with Product and Design.

Key Responsibilities

•Own complex product areas end-to-end (discovery through iteration), working across Node/TypeScript backends and React frontends.
•Lead architecture and system design for real-time, high-volume workflows including event-driven SIP softswitch call routing, WebSocket UI experiences, and streaming audio processing.
•Author technical design docs and set standards for code quality, testing, performance, and observability as the system scales.
•Collaborate with PM and Design to turn ambiguous requirements into intuitive, performant experiences and document trade-offs and decisions.
•Mentor engineers through design reviews and pairing, improve DevEx/reliability via APIs and data contracts, and participate in on-call for owned areas.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 225,000 - 250,000 annually

•8+ years of professional software engineering experience with Staff-level scope across teams, including technical leadership, strategy, and delivery.
•Experience owning products/features end-to-end from discovery through deployment and iteration.
•Expertise with TypeScript/Node.js and modern frontend frameworks like React, plus strong SQL fundamentals using an RDBMS such as PostgreSQL.
•Depth in distributed systems or real-time application patterns (e.g., WebSockets/streaming/PubSub) with strong performance optimization.
•Strong product mindset and communication to simplify complexity, align stakeholders, and connect technical decisions to business impact.
