Job Summary

Own the production systems lifecycle for ByteDance’s large-scale data center and server environments, from OS deployment and inventory management through monitoring, automation, and decommissioning. Build and deploy tools to improve stability, latency, availability, and operability, and perform disaster recovery with root-cause analysis and postmortems. Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and operations teams across core IDCs and CDN/edge, including participating in on-call incident response.

Key Responsibilities

•Improve stability, efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of data center and server operations, platform, and services globally.
•Enhance the full server fleet lifecycle, from system design/introduction consultation through deployment, operations, and retirement.
•Develop and deploy automation tools to improve reliability, scalability, and operability of datacenter servers.
•Build monitoring tooling to improve availability, latency, and overall health of infrastructure, servers, and networks.
•Troubleshoot complex production issues during disaster recovery, perform root-cause analysis, and run incident response and postmortems; collaborate across teams and provide on-call support.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
•Strong Linux system administration skills, including kernel/drivers/modules knowledge, and ability to automate with Bash and Python.
•Experience supporting planning, delivery, and operations for large-scale data centers across countries.
•Proficiency customizing and maintaining operation/maintenance tooling for new server hardware, including monitoring, provisioning, fault management, and repairs.
•Experience developing and maintaining monitoring software for 10,000+ servers.
