Job Summary

Lead enterprise solution architecture for healthcare transformation across the NHS ecosystem, aligning data platform, analytics, and interoperability initiatives with enterprise standards and national policy. Define and govern architecture artefacts, patterns, and guardrails; provide hands-on direction to delivery teams; and oversee end-to-end healthcare data lifecycles. Ensure secure governance of Secure Data Environments and Federated Data Platforms while supporting initiatives such as the Single Patient Record and HDRS.

Key Responsibilities

•Define, maintain, and assure enterprise architecture artefacts including target operating models, reference architectures, roadmaps, and standards across healthcare data landscapes.
•Provide hands-on architectural direction to delivery teams so designs are implementable, scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise principles.
•Establish and enforce architecture governance, including design assurance, architectural decision records (ADRs), and compliance with delivery standards.
•Lead end-to-end data lifecycle architecture from ingestion and curation through analytics, research, and consumption; govern SDEs and FDPs.
•Engage across the evolving NHS organisational landscape to support initiatives including the Single Patient Record and DHSC Health Data Research Service (HDRS).

Key Requirements

•Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect in large, complex organisations.
•Hands-on experience delivering architectures across data platforms, analytics, and integration landscapes.
•Experience operating architecture governance in live delivery environments.
•Strong understanding of NHS data landscapes, including acute trusts and ALBs, plus Secure Data Environments (SDEs) and Federated Data Platforms (FDPs).
•Experience with modern data architectures, including cloud data platforms/data lakes/lakehouse patterns, and Snowflake or equivalent platforms.
