Job Summary

Support construction cost services for a large-scale, multi-phase greenfield campus development, advising clients on procurement, vendor bidding, estimating, and value engineering. Own cost reporting and commercial risk processes, lead cost control through payment reviews and change order evaluation, and help drive dispute avoidance and project closeout. Based in the Chicago area with monthly travel to the St. Louis project site for 2–3 days, and may include SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

•Advise on procurement strategies, manage vendor prequalification, and lead bid leveling and bid recommendations.
•Develop, review, and present construction cost estimates across the project lifecycle, supporting value engineering and risk assessments.
•Review and challenge vendor/contractor pricing using benchmark data, and manage cost reporting (forecasts, budget tracking, commercial risk registers).
•Lead cost control activities including payment application reviews, change order evaluation, and contract entitlement recommendations.
•Oversee invoicing tracking, final accounts, post-contract audits, project closeout, and lessons learned/process improvements.

Travel: Low travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 110,000 - 130,000 annually

Key Requirements

•3–5 years of cost management experience in the construction industry.
•Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
•Experience supporting medium to large-scale construction projects, including site development and large building programs.
•Ability to travel monthly to the St. Louis, MO area for 2–3 days per trip.
•Knowledge of procurement routes and value management/value engineering, plus pre-contract estimating and post-contract cost control experience.
