Job Summary

Support the development and execution of captive and alternative risk strategies for middle market agribusiness clients. Provide highly technical underwriting guidance to field teams, assess specialized risks, and recommend underwriting policies, procedures, and standards. Lead research to develop underwriting initiatives and new product forms/endorsements, mentor underwriting talent, and partner with internal teams to strengthen profitable growth.

•Provide highly technical underwriting perspective to assigned field teams, assessing underwriting opportunities and recommending accept/reject decisions.
•Evaluate risks submitted by the field organization and make final recommendations for specialized/niche underwriting opportunities; coach teams for negotiations with agents and customers.
•Maintain competitive intelligence and mentor field teams on writing and retaining profitable business, including account stewardship as needed.
•Support book/portfolio management issues with assigned field management teams and help execute initiatives.
•Lead research to develop and implement underwriting initiatives and recommend new products (e.g., forms/endorsements), coordinating with Commercial Lines Product and Performance and related teams.

Key Requirements

•More than 10 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, including at least five years of middle market experience in a specialty area (e.g., property, casualty, construction, specialty care).
•Strong underwriting and insurance industry acumen, with detailed knowledge of products/forms, underwriting policies and procedures, and standard methodologies.
•Proven analytical skills including financials, trend analysis, and competitor data to support territory/book management and counsel.
•Undergraduate studies in business or a related field (advanced studies preferred).
•CPCU, ARM, or other industry designation or equivalent preferred.
