Key Responsibilities

  • •Install, perform routine maintenance, diagnose defects, test, adjust, repair, and maintain switching systems, circuit equipment, network terminal equipment, and data/digital equipment using measuring devices.
  • •Plan jobs and determine materials and resources needed; update work and maintenance logs and keep team and managers informed.
  • •Travel between central office locations as needed.
  • •Review and interpret work orders, wiring lists, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings while following standard practices.
  • •Run diagnostic test programs and analyze defects by testing telephone switching equipment (including 5ESS and Electronic Data Switching) using testing devices such as volt-ohm meters and spectrum analyzers.

Key Requirements

  • •At least six months experience diagnosing circuit trouble and performing testing with volt ohm meters, TMS, or comparable equipment.
  • •At least six months experience provisioning and maintaining POTS, DSO, DS1/T1, DS3/T3, DSL, ISDN, DC power, batteries, and fiber circuits.
  • •Knowledge of 5ESS DMS 100 switch maintenance and routines, with working knowledge of IOF and SONET/DWDM equipment and services.
  • •Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • •Ability to work varying shifts, including possible mandatory overtime, callouts, weekends, and holidays.
