Job Summary

Field Technician II responsible for installation, decommissioning and troubleshooting of network equipment and circuits, including fiber, transport gear, and critical infrastructure. Performs testing and provisioning of Next Gen technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber, Ethernet, SONET, IP) across multiple bandwidths, with PM duties and outside plant network responsibilities in Cedar City, UT.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Troubleshoots network equipment, removes/replaces defective equipment, and works with appropriate resources to isolate and restore network
•Proactively identify potential problem areas to ensure network integrity and assist others as needed
•Performs installation/change/decommission and testing of Next Generation technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber Optic Transport, Ethernet, SONET, IP) for all bandwidths; installs and tests network and customer equipment (CPE) including end-user services
•Assists with AC/DC power installs and large Netbuild management (PM duties) as needed
•Utilizes industry standard software/hardware to locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities and manage assets on-site
•Maintains inventory, tools, and materials; coordinates shipping/receiving and updates time logs and statuses as required

Key Requirements

•2+ years’ experience in installation, testing and turn-up of telecommunications equipment (SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers and switches)
•Strong technical background with experience on transport gear, HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants
•Knowledge in at least two of Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, Outside Plant
•Ability to learn corporate databases and work in Windows/Microsoft Office
•On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis with valid driver’s license and clean driving record
